1.5 Million Students Are Bringing Their Bibles to School | Emerson Collins

What happens when more than a million students openly bring their Bibles to school?

Steve Marston talks with Emerson Collins from Focus on the Family about Bring Your Bible to School Day, happening October 1st. What began in 2014 with roughly 8,000 students has grown into a nationwide movement, with organizers anticipating 1.5 million participants this year.

Emerson shares powerful stories of students whose simple decision to carry and read their Bible opened doors for conversations about Jesus, Bible studies, invitations to church, and opportunities to encourage classmates who were struggling.

They also discuss an important question for Christian students, parents, and educators: What are students actually allowed to do with their Bible and their faith in a public school?

Emerson explains that students can bring their Bibles, read them during appropriate free time, and have conversations about their faith as long as they are not disrupting school activities. Focus on the Family also provides resources for students, parents, and educators to help them understand those rights and prepare for Bring Your Bible to School Day.

And Steve and Emerson issue another challenge: Parents, don't just tell your children to live out their faith—show them. Bring your Bible to work, too.

This year's theme comes from James 1:22: “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.”

Bring Your Bible to School Day is October 1st.
