What about the father?
When an unplanned pregnancy happens, much of the attention understandably focuses on the mother and her baby. But the father is part of the story too—and his influence, responsibility, fears, and need for support shouldn't be overlooked.
Steve Marston talks with John Vance, manager of the Man to Man fatherhood ministry at New Beginnings Pregnancy Center in Arkansas. John shares his own powerful testimony of coming to truly know Christ after growing up in church, and how God's grace transformed his life, marriage, and ministry.
Then the conversation turns to the unique work of Man to Man. When fathers accompany women to the pregnancy center, John and his team have an opportunity to sit down with them, listen to their stories, ask meaningful questions, offer practical help, and—when God opens the door—share biblical truth and the hope of the gospel.
Some of these men are excited about becoming fathers. Others are frightened and have no idea what comes next. Some are abortion-minded, while others believe the decision is entirely the mother's responsibility. Man to Man meets these fathers where they are and reminds them that they matter, their children matter, and they don't have to navigate fatherhood alone.
The ministry doesn't simply encourage parents to choose life and then send them on their way. New Beginnings offers resources and support through the child's second birthday, while working toward an even bigger goal: connecting mothers, fathers, and families with a local church where they can experience long-term Christian community and discipleship.
It's a fascinating look at an important—and sometimes forgotten—part of pregnancy-center ministry and the pro-life movement.
