Emmanuel Osiré knows firsthand that a simple shoebox can make an eternal impact.
Growing up in Uganda during a season of poverty, scarcity, and uncertainty, Emmanuel received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox. The gift itself was meaningful—but what it represented was even greater. At a time when his family was struggling, Emmanuel says that small box reminded him that God knew him, loved him, and had not forgotten him.
Today, Emmanuel lives in the United States and serves as a national speaker for Operation Christmas Child, traveling and sharing how God used that childhood experience as part of his remarkable story.
On this episode of The Steve Marston Show, Steve and Emmanuel talk about growing up in Uganda, his family’s difficult circumstances, receiving that unforgettable shoebox, moving to America, the culture shock of his first Colorado winter, and how God eventually brought his story full circle.
They also explain how churches, families, and individuals can participate in Operation Christmas Child and use something as simple as a shoebox filled with gifts to demonstrate Christ’s love and help share the Gospel with children around the world.
