What does it really mean for a church to be “on mission”?
Steve sits down with Galan Hughes, a Missions and Growth Team Pastor in Benton, Arkansas, for a conversation about faith, calling, evangelism, and what it looks like to take the Gospel beyond the walls of the church.
Galan shares how growing up in a strong Christian family helped him understand the difference between simply inheriting a family religion and developing a personal faith in Jesus Christ. He also recounts the mission trip to North Africa that became a defining moment in his call to vocational ministry.
From his time as a resident chaplain at Baylor University to his current work connecting the local church with community ministries, Galan explains why effective missions often begins by recognizing where God is already at work — and joining Him there.
Rather than simply asking, “How do we get people to come to our church?”, Galan challenges Christians to consider another question: How can we go where people already are?
The conversation explores partnering with organizations such as pregnancy resource centers, FCA, Habitat for Humanity and other community ministries to meet tangible needs, build relationships, share the Gospel and help people take their next steps toward Jesus.
It’s a practical conversation about living on mission, serving your community and helping the local church get outside its walls.
