What does it really look like to answer God’s call to foster care and adoption?
Steve sits down with Ryan and Andrea Ingold, foster and adoptive parents who have experienced firsthand both the joy and the challenges of opening their home to children in need. Ryan is pastor of Crosspoint Church in Bryant, Arkansas, and Andrea works with The CALL in Saline County, helping families navigate the foster-care journey.
Ryan and Andrea share how God independently placed fostering on both of their hearts, how their family stepped out in faith, and how that decision eventually became part of their adoption story.
But foster care isn’t always the “sunshine” story people sometimes hear. There can be loss, trauma, uncertainty and brokenness. The Engles discuss why reunification with biological parents is the first goal of foster care when it can be done safely, why compassion for biological families matters, and what it means to love a child who may only be in your home temporarily.
They also answer one of the biggest questions potential foster parents wrestle with: “Do I have what it takes?”
Their answer may surprise you. You don’t have to be perfectly equipped—you need to be willing to love, serve, trust God and follow where He leads.
And even if God hasn’t called you to become a foster parent, there are plenty of ways to make a difference. Providing meals, volunteering, helping with clothing closets, becoming a respite family, giving foster parents a break or simply supporting a foster family in your church can have an enormous impact.
It’s a conversation about foster care, adoption, family, the Church and what happens when ordinary Christians decide to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
